Mike, for your concern there is an easy remedy:

After logging in on the web site please find the "print" button, then pring entire wallet to paper and save it somewhere safe, like the same place you keep your birth certificate or passport etc.

Also, if you keep making backups with iTunes the Memengo Wallet's data file is backup as well, so you will be able to recover later if things turn sour.

This does not negate the need to export, but hopefully addresses some of the concerns.

I haven't done anything to enable export in recent days, and I have much other work before I get to this.

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Export?

Currious if you have given any more thought to this. I too would suggest a method of extracting into some sort of text file. My concern is having this stored in a place other than my computer. I am OK with the live data being stored on a server not in my control, but if anything ever happens to that server, or you go out of business and just shut the server down, all of my passwords would be gone forever.

Thanks!

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Export?

Hi Denis,

Have you thought about outsourcing the development of the app for a share of the revenue? How many subscribers do you have on the site, and on the iOS ?

I wouldn't subscribe to the site as I have gotten used to getting it for free. I might have subscribed had it been a paid service earlier.

Or have you looked at the donation option? A friend has a web service ClikServ, that has a lot of experience with the donation option on desktop websites and might explore that on an Android app if you reach out to them. So even if a few people donate, the amounts are fairly large.

I hope these are useful ideas.

Piyush

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Memengo for Android?

Well, count this as another vote for actually doing it… you can already print wallets from the website, but it makes me edgy that I can't get the data out into a machine-readable form.

Yeah, it could be a potential security hole, but data loss is a security threat too. And you're already suggesting elsewhere, that users split up their data into multiple wallets for different security levels, in case they need to log in from an insecure computer.

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Export?

Yes.
Rename one of the wallets to a distinct name.
Enter a folder in one of the wallets, press "Edit folder" at the bottom, and select a different wallet to move this entire folder into.
Repeat the preceding step for each folder.
When you're done you will have all folders with all cards moved to one wallet, and another wallet will be empty. You can now delete the empty wallet (make sure you're deleting the empty one).

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Merge

Not really. For some reason, when I select 'all folders' the cards don't show up. A search bar and a keyboard show up. The only way to get the cards to show up is to type at least one letter in the search bar. THEN, cards containing that letter show up. So, if I type in an "a", my cards show up, but the screen is still half hidden by the keyboard. So I only have half a screen to flip through the cards with.

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Opening view has changed

Hi Michael.

You don't have to search the cards - you can simply scroll down to see them. "numbers" is a folder you have created at some point in the past; you can create more folders if that helps you to organize your cards better. If you do, "All Folders" will display cards from all such folders, whereas individual folders show only what's in each of them.

The app always returns to the same place where you left it, so if you enter the "numbers" folder and the quit the app, next time it will take you right there.

Does this help?

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Opening view has changed

Oh please, I've contacted you before, and now I'm begging, please don't make me humiliate myself like this, I am BEGGING (sob, sob) for an Android version to compliment my iTouch and iMac desktop version of Memento! It's a disappointing desert out there in the Android wallet land; I need to come back in to the happy world of Memento….

I have been using a less-than-satisfactory Android app called Kuffs, that is just not as clean and straightforward as Memento, nor are its templates thought out nearly as well as yours. That developer uses a 10-card trial version, so now I am looking at spending $5 - $10 for the full version of an app that falls short of Memento's mark. BTW, Kuffs uses a Dropbox and/or Google docs cloud backup model.

Like the other posters, even though I already purchased the iTouch version, I am willing to buy it again for my Android. Hint, hint, hint: that's called "repeat business" and is the best thing you can hope for in the business world. Another way of looking at this is as the subject of loyalty — there are many of us who are loyal to you and your product. Will you be loyal to us?

I hope you decide to join the exploding Android Marketplace and make some dough there!

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Memengo for Android?

I had some problems with my iPhone 3 and restored the phone (as if new).
I re installed all the apps I want, but the Wallet has no information in it; I know all by info is on the Memengo site, I can sign in and see it all (so that's good) but I just want to be sure that if I synch to it form the iPhone that it won't synch the empty wallet on the phone to the website, thus erasing all my info!

How can I be sure the synch is from the website to the phone (NOT the other way around?)
Thanks for any help!

Alan.

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Synching after restore of iPhone firmware

I think it's a good idea but only if the iPhone app could automatically crop, rotate, scale, and possibly do so some other post-processing like histogram equalization on the photo to transform it into a normalized format appropriate for display in the app. Once it's normalized into a scaled JPG, it should be pretty small. That would be a lot of work, but probably something that could be licensed from a business card iPhone app developer.

I don't think the feature is critical give that you can always just hand type all the information from the card into the web app one time and then you're done; but if the feature existed, I'd definitely digitize all my cards into Memengo :)

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: taking pictures of info cards (blood donor, insurance, membership, rewards, etc...)

The reason it was not done, is that pictures are large, and it might be impossibly slow to decrypt them using the web browser. Tiny strings of text aren't a problem, but pictures might be.
I've been looking for an Android app that is like the Memengo, and I just can't find anything as good. I like it because it's simple and to the point. I'm another vote for the Android version. I don't even want to bother downloading other apps. Like others, I'd pay for the Android version, and be happy about it, because I know your product works. I signed up for the update newsletter, I hope and pray for a solution soon- even a beta version.
Hi! I've been using memengo for a while. I typically use the site through my desktop, iPod Touch, and HTC Evo 4G Android phone.
The site is snappy, and fully functional on my HTC Evo, but I have to do a fair amount of scrolling to get to dialogs that appear in the middle of my desktop monitor (on my evo, those dialogs appear off the screen to the lower right, so I need to scroll over to get to them).

It would be great if there was a version of the site that used a different stylesheet!

Concept:

If I point my device to m.memengo.com/signin, I would see a page that contained only the sign-in box using the div.mainColumnInt style (already looks great on my mobile).

When I click sign-in, I would see a listbox on the top to allow me to select my wallet, and the wallet unlock password dialog. The unlock wallet dialog would cover up the Search Cards box and the card list underneath it.

After entering my password, the dialog would disappear leaving me on a screen with the wallet selection box on top, the search box below it, and the card list (100% width) below that.

The search would work exactly as it does now, and the card list would auto-filter just like it does now.

When I click on a card, the card would display between the search box, and the card list. (Instead of displaying in a div to the right, it would be a div between the search box and card list.)

When I click the "New Card" button, the new card dialog would cover the search and card list div.

The "Edit Card" button would have the same layout behavior as "New Card"

P.S. Thanks for all your work on the iPod app! It works like a charm. :)

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Mobile Style

I've recently migrated from I-Phone to Android as well and I've been keeping track of my passwords using a phone notepad. I'd be interested in the Wallet product if you could provide one for the Droid. I may read some of the posts here to see if using a browser for access is feasible (but don't have time to explore it now). Would it be possible to send out a mass e-mailing to everyone that has requested a droid application if one becomes available? If not, how often do you think I should check to see if any plans have been put in place?

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Memengo for Android?

I too migrated off my iPhone and onto Android, my wife as well, and we love it. Memengo Wallet is one of the apps I'm still missing, but since it seems you won't have anything soon and I see a number of alternative solutions on the Android market, I'm tired of waiting and about to get or buy something else. The Android market is exploding and I really believe you can make at least as much as you made with your iPhone app, provided that you do something quickly before others get even more significant advantage. I kept using my Memengo daily for tons of my passwords and I still haven't discarded my iPhone because of that, but it's going away very soon. I hope your good work shows soon on the Android market.

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Memengo for Android?

Just wanted to chime in here as well. I love Memengo, and would gladly pay for an Android app. I'm not too keen on subscriptions, but if it were competitive enough, I would be the first in line to pay for it.

Memengo was my favorite and most used iPhone app, and it's very unfortunate there isn't an app on the Android marketplace yet.

I think the marketplace is big enough now. Just think of the potential client base you are missing out on!

Thanks for this program. I understand that time is always hard to come by, and I want you to know I really appreciate what you've provided thus far.

Thanks!

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Memengo for Android?

I've had my Droid X since July, and have to agree with everyone else writing that the one major app I miss is Memengo. Rather than switch to another password safe, I continue using Memengo through the web browser on my phone - a less than satisfactory experience, but at least functional. If you can't justify adapting Memengo to the Android OS, would you be able to justify a memengo.com mobile web site, customized for all mobile phones with a browser?

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Memengo for Android?

It's time for Memengo on Android. The Android market is bigger then iPhone and growing. I'd keep it simple, clean up the prototype you have and get it out the door. Don't let featuritis be your nemesis. Rewriting and starting over is rarely worth it.

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Memengo for Android?

I was checking out the Market apps before I received my droids and have found out that Memengo Wallet is not available ….
You can sync any number of devices to the same memengo.com account and all data and changes will propagate to each device every time you sync.

I suggest syncing from iPad to memengo.com again, and make sure that you typed in exactly the same email address - open iPad and iPhone side by side and check the spelling. Also, after sync, make sure to examine all Wallets on the iPad. If it still doesn't work please contact support.

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Synching to multiple devices

I have been using Memengo Wallet since the beginning on my iPhone and am a big supporter, bringing many people into the Memengo fold. I have purchased an iPad and I want to access my accumulated data on my iPad while always having the same data on my iPhone. I loaded the app to my iPad and synched. No joy. There was all new empty data folders. I think I also tried to "Restore from Backup" but I am not certain. Now, I do not want to experiment for fear of losing my data. I am thinking of doing the following: (1) normal synch to iTunes from iPhone (iPhone has up-to-date data as does website); (2) normal synch from iPad to iTunes and then (3) Restore from Backup to iPad. Does this sound good? Any better way to reduce risk of data loss? Also, I noticed that website has two wallets "My Wallet" and "The Wallet." "My Wallet" is empty. "The Wallet" has all of my data.

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: Synching to multiple devices

Hi Tom. iOS4 broke the funcitonality, and I can't find time to find a fix. Sorry.

As a workaround, please try using copy-paste. You don't need to start editing the password to make a copy - simply press a finger over the field for one second and you will be given a choice to copy into clipboard or to append. You can then take this to Safari and paste the password that way.

Forum category: Memengo Wallet / General
Forum thread: form autofill
